There is a difference between reading about your country and standing inside it.

Grade 7 students recently made that leap, taking their classroom learning on the road with a visit to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. The trip was rooted in an interdisciplinary project weaving together Bahasa Indonesia, Civics, and Religion, three subjects that, when combined, paint a vivid picture of what it means to be Indonesian.

Walking through TMII, students encountered the breadth of their own nation up close. The diversity of architecture, tradition, and culture spread across the park became a living classroom, one that no textbook can fully replicate. Each pavilion told a story, and our students were there to listen.

For young people growing up in an increasingly fast and digital world, moments like this matter. Understanding where you come from, the richness of the cultures that make up this country, and the values that hold them together is not just academic. It is foundational.

We are proud of our Grade 7 students for engaging with curiosity and openness throughout the day, and grateful for the teachers who designed a project that made this kind of learning possible.

Indonesia is vast, beautiful, and endlessly worth knowing. And our students got a little closer to it this week.
